Auburn (WSYR-TV) – Auburn Police have arrested a man who they believe tried to break into a woman’s home early Friday morning.

Police say they responded to a reported burglary on James Street around 2:23 a.m. A woman told them that a man tried to enter her home through a window, but fled when she confronted him.

Police found a man matching the description they’d been given standing on a sidewalk in the McMaster Street area. She told police the man was black and had been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt during the incident.

An officer talked to the man and noticed that he was sweating and out of breath. The officer also noticed a gray hooded sweatshirt on the steps of the residence the man was standing in front of.

After talking to the man a little longer, the officer determined that he was the suspect involved in the James Street burglary. Police also found two grams of crack cocaine in the man’s pocket.

Police charged 20-year-old Kyari Aki Tyson Sr. of Rowland Street in Syracuse with burglary in the second degree and also criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, both felonies.

Anyone with information on the incident should call police at (315) 253-3231.
