Geddes (WSYR-TV) – State Police have identified one person who was killed and one person who was critically injured in an accident on I-690 eastbound early Monday morning.

A second person was also killed in the accident; police have not identified that person.

They say Ryan Misener, 21, was killed in the two-car accident that occurred at 12:30 a.m. on Monday on I-690 and John Glenn Boulevard.

28-year-old Joseph Clayton of Liverpool was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition on Monday.

Police declined to identify who was driving or where the victims were sitting in the vehicle.

Police say the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle and spun, striking a concrete median barrier. The vehicle then spun into the left and center lanes where an oncoming vehicle crashed into it.

According to the authorities, the passenger was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene. The driver had to be cut out of the car and was later pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital.

I-690 Eastbound at John Glenn Boulevard was shut down for just over seven hours before being reopened at 7:45 a.m.
