Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Police have identified three people who were injured in an early morning accident on James Street in the city of Syracuse.

Police said a person riding in the front passenger seat of the 2011 Chevy Impala sustained “very critical” injuries. They have identified 21-year-old Robert McGann of Syracuse as the front-side passenger.

They say 20-year-old Darryl Trapps was driving the car, while 19-year-old Melyssa Turner was riding in the back. Both Trapps and Turner are Syracuse residents. They were conscious after the accident, but were taken to the hospital.

The accident occurred between Teall Avenue and Cook Avenue when the eastbound car struck a light pole and then a tree at 5:15 a.m.

Police closed down that section of James Street while they investigated the accident. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
