Police identify Monday morning homicide victim

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police have identified a teenager who was shot and killed early Monday morning.

Police say they responded to a shooting that took place at about 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Landon Avenue.

When police arrived on the scene they found two male victims – including 19-year-old Jamal Holmes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, also approximately 17-years-old, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Police have not identified the injured victim in order to protect him.

They say neither victim is listed in their gang information database.

According to police, the two youths were riding their bicycles when the incident occurred.

They do not know what motivated the killer or killers, but they are talking to witnesses.

Police say no suspect information is available at this time.
