New Hartford (WSYR-TV) – New Hartford Police are investigating a post on the Internet that suggests a threat posed to Sangertown Mall.
Police say the threats are significant enough do be considered a terroristic theft, a felony.
Police say they were contacted by mall officials regarding a post on an “on-line blog.”
“The blog was discussing the Colorado shooting when a participant of the blog posted ‘Next attack will be in NY at Sangertown Mall,’” police said in a press release.
Police say they have contacted Yahoo! in an effort to identify the anonymous contributor.
On Thursday morning, a message posted from a Twitter account stated, “In case you don’t know already, DON’T GO TO SANGERTOWN MALL TODAY!”
Police do not know if the two items are connected.
Police say they have increased their presence at Sangertown Mall.
