Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police dealt 20 traffic tickets to a driver who led them on a brief chase before crashing into a utility pole, cutting off power for thousands of South Side residents late Wednesday night.

Police say they gave Michael Knight, 148 Furman St., Syracuse, tickets for reckless driving, imprudent speed, passing through a red light, and failure to signal, among others.

According to police, they tried to pull over Knight’s vehicle for a traffic violation when he sped away. He was not seriously hurt when his car finally slammed into the pole.
