Police officer assaulted at Turning Stone Casino

Verona (WSYR-TV) - A policer officer for the Oneida Indian Nation was taken to the hospital Saturday night after being injured at the Turning Stone Casino.

Sheriff's deputies in Oneida County say Ronald C. Smith Jr., 28, of Cato, NY was charged with second degree Assault, a class D felony.  He's accused of intentionally head-butting the officer around 11:15 p.m.

Deputies will not release the officer's name, but they say he has been treated and released. 

Smith was arraigned in the Town of Floyd Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail where bail is set at $15,000.
