Brewerton (WSYR-TV) -- State Police have identified the man whose body washed ashore along Oneida Lake late Monday afternoon.

The man has been identified as 34-year-old Michael Thompson, who police say was last seen acting strangely and trying to break into neighbors’ homes in the area of Mudmill Road in Brewerton early Saturday morning. Police also say Thompson had a history of using bath salts.

Thompson’s body was discovered by the owner of Castaways Riverside Restaurant.

State Police are handling this case as a suspicious death.

Thompson’s body has been taken to the Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
