Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - It was probably the biggest upset of election night: Cicero Democrat Judy Boyke beat three-term incumbent supervisor Chet Dudzinski.

Boyke, who took 60% of the vote, says people in Cicero made their message clear: they want change.

Dudzinski had been in Cicero government for 16 years, with 10 as a board member and the last 6 as supervisor. The morning after his first losing campaign ever, he wasn't just putting away campaign signs, he was also closing this chapter of his political career.

"It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would, it's just, if that's what the people want they're the ones that made the decision," Dudzinski said.

Dudzinski still has a 2010 budget to finalize this week for the new town government when it takes over in January.

Boyke says she's working on balancing her realtor work, and her side embroidery business, with her new job as supervisor. "Today when I finally settled down, and the phone has been ringing off the hook, it's a realization that now I can start putting together, along with my team, all of the things we've really, really, really, really wanted to do," Boyke said.

Boyke hopes she can hit the ground running come January. "We need to start looking at each individual department, particularly the law for all of our legal and the assessment," Boyke said.
