Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- For the first time in the history of Quinnipiac University's polling, a majority of New Yorkers said they are against natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale

In the poll released Wednesday, 46 percent of voters said they are opposed to hydrofracking, compared to the 39 percent who said they support it.

But in Upstate New York, it’s the opposite. 42 percent are against drilling, while 44 percent think it’s a good idea.

Right now, Governor Cuomo is evaluating the issue of hydrofracking before it’s allowed to take place.
