Auburn (WSYR-TV) – President Obama paused during his bus tour through Upstate New York and Pennsylvania to stay overnight in Auburn.
Many people gathered outside of the hotel, which was heavily protected by area police and the Secret Service.
The president surprised many residents at the local YMCA when he stopped in for a brief workout.
"I had no idea. I got here at 6:30 a.m. and then about 8 a.m. there were people with earpieces walking around and then there was a dog, I was like this is got to be him coming in and he was on the elliptical, President got some good cardio, did the bike and then the treadmill," said Andrew Porter.
Obama stopped to shake some hands and greet the locals before heading out on his tour again.
"He was walking off from the basketball courts, very nice guy, good handshake. It was fun, you have to see the President right if he's here,” said Amanda Morgan.
The President resumed his bus tour across Upstate New York and into Pennsylvania around 10 a.m.
