Proposal for military action in Syria drafted, sets 60-day limit and prevents US ground forces
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A use of force resolution for military action in Syria has been drafted following a lengthy senate hearing.
The proposal sets a 60-day deadline for President Obama to launch military strikes against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
It will also prevent any involvement of US ground forces in Syria.
The resolution could be voted on by the Foreign Relations Committee as early as Wednesday and if accepted, would then by scheduled for a full Senate vote as early as next week.
During Tuesday’s Senate hearing, Secretary of State John Kerry said, "The world is watching, not just to see what we decide, but it's watching to see how we make this decision."
