Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - On Saturday, the nationwide grassroots movement of holding Tea Parties found its way to the Federal Building in Downtown Syracuse.
People from the area made their way to the rally in order to have their voices heard and try to better organize a movement to make changes they want in government. The movement is stemmed from disapproval over what protesters refer to as the Obama Administration's "tax and spend" style.
Demonstrators emphasized the day's events were not a battle between Democrats and Republicans, nor were they designed to provoke one. Instead, they say, the rally was for people to stand up and be heard and exercise their Freedom of Speech.
Similar demonstrations have been popping up around the country for the majority of President Obama's term, but many groups chose to hold their protests on Independence Day for extra significance.
