Union Springs (WSYR-TV) – The search for a man who went missing while fishing with his 9-year-old son on Cayuga Lake Sunday has been put on hold due to the rain. The search will resume Tuesday morning.
While the boy and his father were in the middle of the lake, the boy turned around and noticed that his father – 35-year-old Daniel Dymock – had fallen off the boat.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation, does not know why Dymock fell off the boat.
The boy, who had a life preserver on, jumped in the water to try and find his father. The son was picked up by a boater passing by.
The search teams were on the scene by 9:30 a.m. and spent most of Sunday searching for Dymock.
The Sheriff’s Office says the water is very murky in the lake and the search is difficult.
Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould is now calling the search a recovery effort. Searchers found the man’s hat and sweatpants.
On Monday morning, searchers deployed dogs that can detect scents under the surface of the water.
