Recess cut at one city school; parents concerned
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- School is back in session, but it looks like recess is out -- at least at one city school.
We've heard from parents at Meachem School in Syracuse that are upset because their kids came home with a letter saying there will be no more recess.
There's no formal policy, so recess is discretionary across Syracuse elementary schools. Schools are now under pressure to meet standardized testing goals and schools nationwide have had to cut recess.
The Parent Teacher Organization has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the school.
