Oriskany (WSYR-TV) - Thursday is a bittersweet day for the family of slain Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Kurt Wyman.
A remembrance ceremony was held in his honor at the sheriff’s office, one year to the day after Wyman was killed during an armed standoff.
Thursday is also the day his daughter Addie's birthday is being celebrated. She came into the world the day after Wyman was pronounced dead.
The state Senate has agreed to name a portion of State Route 12B, from College Street in Clinton to State Route 315 in Deansboro, the “Deputy Kurt Wyman Memorial Highway.” The bill now moves to the Assembly.
Investigators are also wrapping up an internal investigation into Wyman's death, which is due out soon.
