Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- An annual report from the American Lung Association has given New York an “F” when it comes to funding tobacco control programs.

The association also gave New York an “F” for not offering enough access to smoking cessation services.

New York did get an “A” for its taxes on cigarettes and for smoke-free indoor air laws.

The report estimates that smoking related illnesses cost the state $14 billion per year.
