Rome Police charge 2 suspected heroin dealers

Rome (WSYR-TV) – Rome Police have arrested two suspected heroin dealers, one of whom allegedly ran away from police and tried to steal a vehicle.

According to police they searched two separate residences in the city for the suspects, who they believe were working together.

When they searched the home of 47-year-old Carlos Perez on Ashland Avenue, police say he tried to flee and steal a car.

They allegedly recovered drugs and cash at the residence and charged Perez with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony; as well as escape in the first degree and attempted robbery in the second degree, both felonies.

Police also searched an apartment on Howland Avenue where they say they found heroin.

They charged 42-year-old Thomas Byrnes with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
