Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Over 500 students in the Syracuse City School District took over the Dome Wednesday – all in the name of science.
SUNY ESF held their annual “Environmental Challenge” competition for seventh and eighth grade students. The event featured over 300 science projects by students and has students already looking at a future in science.
Event Organizer Brandon Murphy said, “We tried to leave it as open as possible. This year’s theme was science around Central New York, so we tried to make them think about how their projects relate to careers in science, technology, engineering and math fields that relate to jobs that they could potentially do and career tracks someday in our area.”
Some of the winning projects will continue on to the next round of the competition held at the MOST.
