SU’s iSchool receives $7 million estate gift
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse University’s iSchool announced that it received the largest single gift in its history.
The School of Information Studies received a $7 million gift from the estate of Estelle Wilhelm, who graduated from SU’s library science program in 1938.
Wilhelm worked as a librarian most of her career.
She made a $1 million gift to the iSchool back in 2006 in memory of her mother Katherine Katchmar, which named the Katherine Katchmar Learning Center in Hinds Hall.
Wilhelm passed away in 2012 in Gillette, New Jersey and had no living relatives.
$1 million of the gift will be used for the iSchool’s Tech Endowment, which provides technology improvements for classrooms.
The remaining $6 million allocations have yet to be determined.
