GENESEO, N.Y. (AP) - Members of SUNY Geneseo volleyball team charged with hazing freshmen teammates are scheduled to appear in court.

Eight members of the women's volleyball team and three other female students were charged last month after six freshmen teammates said they were blindfolded, handcuffed and forced to drink alcohol during a party at an off-campus party during Labor Day weekend.

Geneseo police say one of the 18-year-old freshmen had to be hospitalized for alcohol poisoning.

The college at first suspended the team's season, then cancelled the season on Sept. 14.

The charges include hazing and unlawful dealing with a child for serving alcohol to minors, both misdemeanors. The students charged are scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court on Tuesday.
