Plattsburgh (WFFF-TV/WSYR-TV) - Police say a 21-year-old SUNY Plattsburgh student was injured in a fire at an off-campus apartment building on early Friday morning.
SUNY Plattsburgh President John Ettling confirmed the woman is a student at the college, and that seven other students were displaced from the apartment building on Couch Street in Plattsburgh.
Police say the 21-year-old, whose name has not been released, was trapped in a third-story window. Firefighters were able to rescue her.
She was transported to a local hospital then airlifted to Clark Burn Center at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
President Ettling says the college is doing everything it can to help.
"Our hearts are with her and her family as she struggles to recover from her injuries," he wrote in a statement.
He says the college is working to provide the displaced students with a temporary place to the live, food, textbooks, and loaner computers.
There will be a meeting Tuesday at noon in the Cardinal Lounge at the school for any students who want to help out.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
