Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A car chase throughout Syracuse's West Side came to a close after midnight when a vehicle police were pursuing crashed into a garage.
When officers arrived on Bellevue Avenue, they say a 2003 Cadillac Escalade fled the area at a high rate of speed. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over. Police followed the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but it lost control minutes later as it turned from South Geddes Street onto Glenwood Avenue. At that point, the vehicle crashed into the garage of the home at 845 Glenwood Avenue.
Two of the three occupants in the SUV attempted to flee the crash, but were later apprehended by police. They are identified as Adrian Esteras, 26, of Merriman Avenue, and Gregory Darrain, 20, of Oswego Street. Esteras was driving the Escalade. The third occupant, Jennifer Hirsh, 23, of Phoenix, remained in the vehicle after the crash. She was treated at the hospital for a minor injury, but was later released.
Esteras, the only person charged in this case, was found hiding inside the Glenwood Avenue home. He was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, assault, resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing and reckless operation. He is being held overnight at the justice center and will be arraigned tomorrow in City Court.
