Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - She's well known for her character Gloria on the hit-show "All in the Family," but Sally Struthers hit the stage in Syracuse as Dolly.
Tuesday marked the opening night of "Hello Dolly,” in which Struthers plays the title role.
She’s joined by John O'Creagh as her leading man in the 50 year anniversary tour.
“It is never difficult to be asked to, and to take the offer of doing the musical "Hello Dolly" because it's in my humble opinion, one of the five best pieces of musical theater ever written and especially a wonderful role for a woman to play,” Struthers said. “What is difficult at my age - which is 66 years old - is to go out on a bus with all these young kids playing the roles and being on a bus for 7 months on the road, and in a different city almost every night. And everything hurts. Your back hurts, your feet hurt, and you get bus butt.”
If you missed opening night on Tuesday, tickets are still available as the Struthers and company will perform in Syracuse on Wednesday and Thursday night at the Crouse Hinds Theater.
