Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Salvation Army had to bring more resources to Central New York to keep up with the demand of food and clean-up relief efforts.
A 48-foot mobile kitchen arrived in Herkimer on Wednesday that will allow volunteers to handout more meals to people in need.
Volunteers handed out over 2,300 meals on Tuesday, a feat that organizers say is difficult to do from a small truck.
The mobile kitchen can hold up to 6 people and can prepare up to 15,000 meals a day.
The unit traveled from Pennsylvania and is equipped with eight stove-top burners, three microwaves, three sinks and a large freezer.
The unit is located at Herkimer High School at 801 West German Street.
