Syracuse (WSYR-TV/CNN) – The Nobel Prize for Physics is going to the two scientists who first proposed the idea of the Higgs boson particle.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences decided to award the 2013 edition of the honor to Professor Francois Englert of Belgium and Professor Peter Higgs of the United Kingdom.
Both recipients are in their 80s.
The Higgs boson, colloquially called the “God Particle,” was confirmed last year.
It is what gives all matter its mass and is a central part of Scientific Theory.
