Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The Syracuse Police Department searched a Bear Street residence and uncovered several handguns, rifles, high capacity magazines, ammunition and a ballistic vest Monday afternoon.

Along with weapons and ammunition, detectives say they also recovered nearly 100 grams of crack cocaine, 300 grams of marihuana, nearly 300 grams of synthetic drugs, as well as almost $24,000 cash, which police believe was collected during illegal drug sales.

Acting on a tip, authorities were able to obtain a search warrant for the apartment.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives say Mike Shutter attempted to escape being caught by diving head first from a second floor window. He landed on his head and was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a broken vertebrae, possible skull fracture and multiple abrasions.

Once Shutter was released from the hospital, authorities took him to the Justice Center.

Six people were arrested and charged with a total of 44 felony, 27 misdemeanor and six violation charges.

Those arrested include:
  • 42-year-old Richard D. Brown
  • 38-year-old Mike Shutter
  • 31-year-old Sharod Rutledge
  • 31-year-old Ricardo Lane
  • 26-year-old Tasha Brathwait
  • 28-year-old Habiba Cheeks
