(WSYR-TV, Syracuse) Strong low pressure dropped 4.21” of rain at Syracuse’s Hancock Airport Sunday, setting a record for most rainfall for that day. It also was the second most rainfall for any day in Syracuse since 1950, eclipsed only by the 4.29” of rain that fell on July 12, 2006.
However, going back to 1902, it is the fourth wettest day. It should be noted that records were kept at a different location than Hancock Airport before 1950.
It is also interesting that before yesterday, Syracuse was in the midst of one of its top 5 driest Augusts since 1950. Now, after the storm, we are in the top 5 wettest.
