Auburn (WSYR-TV) – A serial flasher was convicted on multiple counts stemming from an incident in Auburn where he exposed himself to young, female students.
A Cayuga County jury found Paul Goodrell guilty on two counts of burglary in the third degree as a sexually motivated felony, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of public lewdness.
Goodrell has a long history of similar crimes throughout Central and Western New York.
On Nov. 4, Goodrell exposed himself to teenage girls in several locations throughout Auburn. He also lurked around a school in Marcellus, but fled.
Auburn Police matched their own surveillance images with those obtained from Marcellus. Police were finally able to identify him with the help of law enforcement authorities in Wayne and Monroe counties.
He
was arrested by Auburn Police on Dec. 22, 2010, shortly after
being taken into custody in Brockport after an incident at a laundromat.
Goodrell has been in trouble with the law because of similar incidents on multiple occasions since 1989. He has served time in prison on convictions in Wayne County. Other incidents occurred in Monroe and Erie counties.
He faces three to seven years in prison on each of the burglary convictions from the Auburn incidents. He will also be required to register as a sex offender. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 7, 2012.
