(WSYR-TV Syracuse) Several rounds of thunderstorms have impacted parts of CNY through the afternoon, but fortunately the strongest winds and damaging storms have remained to the south of CNY. Some small hail was reported in CNY this afternoon.
The storms have cooled the air some, but it remains uncomfortably humid, which is providing the fuel for heavy rain producing thunderstorms. While the severity of any additional storms this evening has diminished, we can still expect frequent lightning and very heavy rain through the early part of tonight with any additional storms which pass through. Localized flash flooding is a real possibility given the amount of moisture in the air over us.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for CNY until 9 this evening. A watch means severe storms are possible, and a warning means severe weather is nearby. Stay tuned to NewsChannel 9 and 9wsyr.com for warnings and the latest view of Live Doppler 9.
