Town of Nelson (WSYR-TV) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the death of a man while logging was accidental.

According to Sheriff’s Investigators, 36-year-old Brett Armstrong was logging on private property near Old State Road in the Town of Nelson on Wednesday, June 15. While downing a tree that struck another tree, a 15-inch thick limb fell from the second tree. It landed on top of Armstrong.

He was wearing safety gear at the time of the accident. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that Armstrong died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries when the branch hit him.
