SYRACUSE, (WSYR-TV) - The 30
th Annual Short Fat Guys Road Run was held on Saturday to benefit Make-A-Wish of Central New York.
Male “competitors” must have a waist size that is 4 ½ inches larger than their inseam. Many of the skinnier runners stuffed their shirts to comply. Women of “any dimension” were free to participate as well.
The course, which spanned about one block in Armory Square, included rest stops with Twinkies and beer.
While the pace was closer to that of a crawl, organizers told us the fundraiser is no walk.
"It is actually a run. We run an entire block. So, that can tire you out so we do have an extensive cool down period after our run and then do prizes and things like that,” said race Co-Chairman Bob Davidson.
The Short Fat Guys Road Race has raised about $250,000 for Make-A-Wish of Central New York.
