is reporting James Gandolfini, the actor best known for his role as Tony Soprano in the hit HBO series, "The Sopranos" has passed away.
CNN states that it received the information from an HBO spokeswoman and Gandolfini's manager.
According to reports, Gandolfini was on holiday in Rome, Italy.
It is currently believed that the cause of death was a heart attack.
The 51-year-old Gandolfini won three Emmys for his portrayal of the notorious mobster Tony Soprano.
The critically acclaimed and award winning show "The Sopranos" aired from 1999 to 2007.
Gandolfini is survived by his wife, Deborah, and their daughter. He is also survived by a son from another marriage.
