Geddes (WSYR-TV) – Less than one year after Dan O’Hara exited the State Fair’s top post, New York State has announced that State Fair Director Thomas Ryan
is stepping down.
Ryan has been the Department of Agriculture and Markets’ Fair director since he replaced O’Hara in January.
Shortly after his departure, O’Hara and other State Fair officials suffered heavy criticism from the Inspector General’s office
. O'Hara was disciplined and then transferred to a different position in state government.
The department said that former Syracuse Mayor Matt Driscoll, who currently serves as the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, will lead the search effort to find a new director.
