Stolen gun discovered in Syracuse traffic stop

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police say a traffic stop lead to the recovery of a loaded handgun that was reported stolen.

Shortly before 2:00 Saturday morning, an officer stopped a Honda Civic after the driver failed to give sufficient notice before making a turn onto Harrison Street.

Police then discovered the license plates on the car had been switched and the car was on the road illegally.

A search of the car led them to find a Smith and Wesson loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun under the driver's seat.

21-year old Steven Delgado was charged with criminal possesion of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property. He was also ticketed for an unregistered, uninspected and uninsured motor vehicle along with insufficient turn signal.

His passenger, 21-year old Hector Santana was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Both were set to be arraigned Saturday.
