SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - The State Department of Transportation says a portion of I-81 North closed for repairs, has re-opened a day ahead of schedule.

A stretch between exit 18 and the northbound on-ramp from Almond Street was opened late Sunday morning.

Originally the closure was expected to last into early Monday morning, but the D.O.T. says favorable conditions and the rapid set concrete allowed deck patching work to move along quicker than expected.

The right lane of the Almond Street on-ramp remains closed, but is expected to be re-opened today.
