Substation fire causes power outage in Auburn
Auburn (WSYR-TV) - An underground fire at a NYSEG substation in Auburn has left about 800 customers without power.
A company official says the fire occurred at an underground electrical vault on Green Street early Sunday morning.
Portions of NYSEG's natural gas distribution system in Auburn has also been shut down for safety reasons.
The company says that almost all of the customers should have their power restored by 5:30 a.m.
