Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The New Hartford man accused of murdering his girlfriend in her SUNY Brockport dorm room earlier this year has filed a notice of “extreme emotional disturbance.”

Police say 21-year-old Clay Whittemore beat his 18-year-old girlfriend – Alexandra Kogut – to death in dorm room in September.

Whittemore is charged with second degree murder and will face trial in March.

Whittemore remains in jail without bail.
