Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – An 18-year-old pleaded guilty on Monday in the November beating death of another man.

Caleb Springer pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of Geoffrey Scott.

Spring will be sentenced to nine years in prison, with two and a half years of post-release supervision.

Police said Springer interrupted a fight between Scott and a woman.

In November, Scott was found unconscious on Wood Street in Syracuse. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he died two days later as a result of injuries incurred during the assault.
