Syracuse Common Council votes to seize 12 homes due to back taxes
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse City Common Council has voted to seize 12 owner-occupied homes based on back taxes.
The move will hand the properties over to the city-county land bank who can then market them to new owners.
It's part of the city's new tax collection policy.
There were initially 17 properties listed on the agenda.
Four were not seized because the city could not get in direct contact with the owner.
The properties seized on Monday were some of the 200 properties that had received foreclosure notice back in November.
