Cicero (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police have arrested a man in connection with an incident in which an officer was struck by a pick-up truck at Driver’s Village earlier this week.

The incident occurred in the midst of an investigation into the theft of tires and rims from vehicles in the area. Police were tipped off to activity at the well-known dealership in Cicero.

When seven-year police veteran Matt Arduini arrived on the scene, police have said he encountered multiple suspects. After he identified himself, police say the officer was struck by the truck. He fired two bullets at the vehicle.

Police have charged Gavin Ballog with attempted aggravated assault and grand larceny, as well as multiple other charges.

Three others have also been charged with grand larceny.
