Syracuse Police catch suspected purse snatcher
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Police have arrested a Syracuse man after they say he snatched a purse.
Syracuse Police say the incident happened at about 4:50 p.m. on Thursday at the Skyline Apartments located at 753 James St.
A 23-year-old female victim told police that an African-American male grabbed her purse and fled on foot as she was about to enter the Skyline Apartments.
The victim was not injured during the alleged altercation.
Officers obtained a description of the suspect and interviewed several people in the area and developed information that the suspect may have entered an apartment building.
Police entered the building, found the suspect and recovered the victim’s purse which was near the suspect.
The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Pirnell Paul of 729 East Willow St. in Syracuse.
Paul was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a felony.
He was lodged in the Justice Center and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday in Syracuse City Criminal Court.
