Syracuse Police identify body in suspicious death

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Police have identified the body of a man found behind Mavis Discount Tire store on South Salina Street on Saturday.

They say the man is 27-year old Carnell Marshall of Syracuse.

Marshall's body was found in a vacant lot behind the tire store.

His cause of death is undetermined at this time, but investigators say there are circumstances that appear to be suspicious.

Syracuse Police say they are still processing and collecting evidence.

If you have information on Marshall or if you saw a disturbance or fight in the area of South Salina Street and McAllister Avenue between April 12th-14th, you're asked to call police at 442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential.

Body found; police investigate suspicious death

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - The body of a black male was found behind a South Salina Street business on Saturday morning. Syracuse Police are calling the man's death suspicious.
 
The body was discovered in a vacant lot behind Mavis Discount Tire.

Police do not know the identity of the victim, but say he is a black male who appears to be in his 40's.

Police arrived on the scene at about 11 a.m. Saturday after receiving a tip from someone who lives nearby.

The cause of death is still undetermined.

"Once we get the scene processed the medical examiner is going to come and remove the victim and we'll have a better idea of what the cause of death is because we don't know at this point but we do believe there are some suspicious circumstances here,” said Sgt. Tom Connellan.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call them at 442-5222.
