Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse Police cruiser was hit by a car on I-690 eastbound Thursday morning, but police say no one was seriously injured.

Officer Joseph Hilliker had stopped just past the West St. exit to help a stopped car around 9:30 a.m.

Police say a 2008 Lexus driven by 30-year-old Christina Buza of Camillus rear-ended the police car. The stopped vehicle was not involved in the crash.

Both Hilliker and Buza were taken to Upstate Hospital as a precaution, where they were treated and released.

A portion of I-690 was closed for about 45 minutes following the crash.

No tickets have been issued at this time and police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
