Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police say a 19-year-old was shot just after 9 p.m. Tuesday at 123 McKinley Avenue.

The victim, identified as Shateak Allen, of Syracuse, was shot with what police say appeared to be a shot gun blast of bird shot. He was hit by 20-25 small projectiles in the legs and back area, police said.

Allen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses could not provide any suspect information, but police say the shots appear to have been fired from a vacant lot across from where Allen was hit. Witnesses did tell police several children were playing in the area when the shots were fired.

An investigation continues. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police at 315-442-5222. Calls will remain confidential.
