Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Salt City will host one of the world’s largest bowling events when the USBC Open Championships returns in 2018.

The US Bowling Congress announced at noon on Wednesday that it had awarded the winning bid to the city of Syracuse.

Leaders in Onondaga County and the city anticipate that the event will bring in $70 million to the local economy.

Syracuse previously hosted the Open Championships in 1999. The women’s championship was held in Syracuse in 2011.

More information on the event can be obtained at the US Bowling Congress’ website.
