Syracuse celebrates Arbor Day

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – City officials joined students and other organizations on Friday to celebrate Arbor Day.

The event was held at Bellevue Elementary School on Stolp Avenue in Syracuse. In addition to Mayor Stephanie Miner and County Executive Joanie Mahoney, the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County and several city agencies participated in event.

Fifth-grade and kindergarten students participated in the tree planting, while Miner was presented with the Tree City USA proclamation and Mahoney announced the beginning of the county’s Save the Rain tree-planting program.
