Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A former Upstate University Hospital doctor was sentenced on Monday for hitting a man with his car while drunk on Onondaga Lake Parkway last summer.

Frank Vogel was sentenced to five years probation, but he will spend the first six months in jail. The 67-year-old Syracuse resident pleaded guilty to vehicular assault in February.

In August, Vogel was driving on the Parkway with a blood alcohol content of .2 percent, more than twice the legal limit, when he struck Jason Farnham as he walked along the Parkway.

Farnham, 32, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
