Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - A Syracuse firefighter is out of the hospital and going to be ok, after being rescued during an early morning house fire.

Ray Duncanson was in the third floor attic when his air pack ran out of air.  Fellow firefighters were able to safely pull Duncanson from the window.

Duncanson's air tank is being examined, but there has not yet been an explanation for what, if anything, went wrong with it.

The first started at 4:00 a.m., near the corner of South Salina Street and East Newell Street.

This fire was in an empty home and no one else was hurt. The cause is still under investigation, but investigators say it was probably an accident.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse firefighters are on the scene of a house fire on the city's southside.  It started right around 4:00am near the corner of South Salina Street and East Newell Street.  It took firefighters more than an hour to get it under control.

One firefighter became trapped in the attic and had to be rescued.  Several firefighters pulled the man from the attic window and helped him to the ground.  The firefighter was able to walk to an ambulance and was taken to the hospital.

The Deputy Chief tells us that the firefighter was in the third floor attic and his air pack ran out of air, so he had to be pulled from the window by fellow firefighters. They're investigating how that happened. He's at the hospital. Smoke inhalation is the major concern when that happens.

The house appeared to be vacant and no one else suffered any injuries.  Investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the fire.
