Syracuse man arrested after ‘suspicious person’ complaint

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Police have arrested a Syracuse man after a caller reported to 911 that a man with a loaded gun hidden in his waistband was walking in the area.

Syracuse Police responded to South Geddes Street near Putnam Street and found a person fitting the caller’s description.

While an officer was investigating, the man tried to run away. Police say a struggle ensued, but the officer recovered a loaded gun from the man.

The man broke free, but other officers caught him.

Daniel Riggs Jr., 21, of 112 Rowland St., Syracuse, was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.

Riggs was taken to the Justice Center. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
